Narrator And POV

QuestionL I am totally new to story writing and have a novel in mind. My question concerns the narrator and point of view. The POV during the story will be one (Stephan) of the two main characters (Stephan and Yolanda). The narrator will be third-person (not being a character in the story) but the narrator will mainly tell it from Stephan's POV. What do you think of a third-person narrator telling the story from a main character's POV?

Thank you.

Answer: The style of narration you have in mind is usually called limited third person, and it is a very effective and versatile style, allowing the reader to be close to the main character while giving the writer the freedom to occasionally switch to a different point of view (if needed).

So go for it, absolutely.
