Describing the Town In My Novel

by Laurie

In describing the little town where my novel takes place, do I put the names of stores and churches in italics or just capitalize the first letter in each word of the names?

Thank you so much! Your web site is SO helpful!!

Answer: Proper nouns are always capitalized. Italics are reserved for titles of stand-alone artistic works, foreign phrases, words needing special emphasis, and occasionally shifts in narrative voice (thoughts, etc.).
